Welcome to my world. Blogged.
An interesting thing happens in NYC. There is so much and so much going on at street level that most of us don't take the opportunity of looking up! At higher grounds, it is a whole other New York City. Private gardens are a rare treat for a New Yorker. Atop the Rockefeller Center lays a secret garden that is an impressive collection of tailored shrubs, blossoms and manicured lawns. Their secrecy only heightens the allure. When my client offered access to this rooftop haven as a location for our family portrait session, I was delighted as any photographer would be!
The portrait session took place on a rather cold New York day. With abundant sunshine however, its almost as if they were transported to another world.
These images were captured for a Family Holiday Portrait session. Don't they look positively gorgeous and festive?!
I love photographing families and capturing their very special moments in time. My specialty is family and children's portraiture. If you're interested in booking a session with Longshadowimages Fotography, please contact me, Mary at 917-816-8423 or email me by clicking the CONTACT US tab.
Usually you won't find me photographing outdoors in the early hours of the day. That is not to say I am not a morning person, in fact, I am! But my favorite "shooting hour" is not usually the morning. But in late Fall, you can catch some pretty light outside. This blog features sisters who wanted to give their parents the gift of portraits! Since they've been away from home (North Carolina!) with school and work, this would make the perfect gift!
It was such a pretty Fall day. Pastel colors dappling everywhere.
I think the sisters are just adorable together.
We had a lot of fun capturing these images! If you're interested in capturing your special moments, please contact me regarding booking a photo session. 917-816-8423 I love family portraiture!
I had the pleasure of meeting this little fellow. He was so well dressed and charming, my camera, the by-standers and I, fell instantly in love!
It is often said that children are the best models because they are so effortlessly natural in front of the camera. I tend to think there is some truth to that.
This session was captured during mid Fall, when all the colors are rich with yellows, red and shades of orange. All complimentary to his wardrobe.
Love that childhood spirit! When its captured, its gold.
Here I am catching up with my blog again! Grace is our beautiful subject of this blog feature!
True to her name, she moved with Grace. And how about these Fall colors?!
This session was shot during the height of the busy session season and I was able to squeeze this session in. This was captured blocks from my apartment!
Captured in glorious Fall colors right outside of a cemetery!
Love that hour! And Grace was cool as a cucumber despite the crunch for time before the sun sets!
This beautiful mama contacted me about a destination photo session in NYC. She wanted something urban,
yet elegant. Why The Plaza Hotel fit the bill quite nicely wouldn't you say?
This family were pros when it comes to being in front of the camera and took to the directions naturally!
Outside the landmark Oak Room at The Plaza Hotel.
I wanted the absolute best photos I can capture for my clients despite the light rain and wind, they were true
troopers and did an amazing job!
I really love the Oak Room, inside and out.
My clients bid so long to NYC and hopes to return soon!
There is something so special about New York City in the late Autumn. The Holiday cheer takes over. The whole city is brimming with Christmas lights and trimmings. Here in Sheep's Meadow, we have a little respite from the holiday rush. A farewell to Fall.
Looking to the future! My clients are here on business and will be returning to Europe, already longing for the days back in NYC.
My clients are enamored with my black and white work. Here I wanted to beckon a look, feel and longing in memories.
Where else but NYC can you be in the middle of everything but still be in your own world? :)
I am just now finally getting to catch up on my blog! Candid, glamour sessions are my favorites! Here is one captured in Central Park West.
My client was super open to directions and have great ideas on her own. Now that's my kind of photo session!
For me half of the fun is the posing. I love the elements of hair, eyes and expression. There are so many possibilities.
My client have such expressive eyes. I played them up to the hilt.
My client loved all the images!
The sight of the marriage proposal. Rohit had an elaborate (and fantastically romantic!) plan to ask for his bethroth's hand. He staged this sign for Central Park's "Bird Watching" and placed a pair of binoculars to use. You will see how this plays out in the proposal...
Our couple arrives at the proposal sight! (I'm posing as a nearby bird photographer)
Lady love seizes the opportunity to use the binoculars to look for "birds". As Rohit signals his friends on a boat across the way.
What the Rohit's girlfriend sees thru the binoculars across the pond!
He reaches for the Ring...
The MOMENT! Will you marry me?
And she accepts happily. Joyfully!
The happy couple is joined by family (his and hers!) and friends on boats!
Showing off the Ring! Bling!
As we work our way to board a gondola (yes!) to head for the Boathouse, we are stopped by a street musician in the park for an impromptu serenade of Elvis's "Can't Help Falling in Love" by a WHOLE AUDIENCE! The whole park cheers, awwws and coos at the newly engaged couple.
On the gondola! On ward to the Boathouse for a mega celebration! A great day for this couple and for love!
